四海大のご紹介
四海さんの器との出会いはとあるギャラリーで。
触れた時に土や石の質感、風合いがそのままダイレクトに感じられた
四海さんの大皿に魅せられ、いざ使ってみるとサラダ、カレー、蕎麦、煮物
何にでも相性が良くて使い勝手も良い、すぐに我が家の食卓の主役となりました。
栃木県益子市 陶芸の産地から田園風景を横目に山の麓まで車を走らせた先に
四海さんの工房があります。
初対面の四海さんは口数は多い方ではなく、一見人見知りなのかな？と
思いましたが暑い夏の日、走って扇風機を引っ張り出して来てくださった姿を見て
絶対に優しい方だ、と感じた日のことを今でも覚えています。
そして工房を見せていただくと栃木、茨城、福島と自ら採取したと沢山の土や石が並んでおり、
実験の様に試行錯誤をしてますが、思惑と違うものが出来上がってくることもあるんですと
話されている顔がどこか綻んでいて、
あぁ 本当に陶芸がお好きなんだなぁと感じました。
薪の穴窯と1日で焼き上げることができるイッテコイ窯を作品によって使い分け
色んな表情を見せる四海さんの作品。
仕事が趣味、という様な職人がたきの四海さんですが
作品の前に堂々と寝っ転がるふわふわっの愛猫は”いいちこ”という名前がついている程
お酒もお好きな様で、晩酌のお供にぴったりな酒器の作品も多くあります。
是非毎日の疲れを癒す至極の一杯のお供にいかがでしょうか。
Introduction of Shikai Dai
I first encountered Shikai's vessels at a gallery.
When I touched them, I could directly feel the texture and feel of clay and stone.
I was fascinated by Shikai's platters, and when I started to use them, I found that they went well with salads, curry, soba noodles, and simmered dishes.
They are easy to use and go well with everything, and soon became the mainstay of our dining table.
Mashiko City, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan: A short drive from the ceramic production area to the foot of the mountain with the countryside on the side, you will find Shikai's studio.
Shikai's studio is located at the foot of the mountain.
When we first met Mr. Shikai, he was not a man of many words, and at first glance I wondered if he was shy. At first glance, I wondered if he was shy.
But on a hot summer day, I saw him running and pulling out a fan and coming to me.
I still remember the day when I saw him running to pull out a fan on a hot summer day and felt that he was absolutely kind.
When he showed me his workshop, I saw a lot of soil and stones that he collected from Tochigi, Ibaraki, and Fukushima,
He told us that he sometimes creates something different from what he expected, through trial and error, like an experiment.
His face was somewhat torn as he was talking,
I felt that he really loves ceramics.
Shikai uses both a wood-fired anagama and an itte-koi kiln, which can be fired in a single day, depending on the piece.
Shikai's works show various expressions.
Mr. Shikai is a craftsman who likes to work as a hobby.
His cat, which lies proudly in front of his works, is named “Iichiko” (meaning “good cat” in Japanese).
He also likes to drink, and many of his works are sake cups that are perfect for evening drinks.
