Layered with white lacquer over a black lacquer base, the surface reveals a soft, nuanced expression with quiet warmth and depth.
IIt has a mysterious charm that blends beautifully into any table setting, Japanese or Western.
The front is layered with local Sugihara washi paper, while linen cloth is applied to the reverse side—both carefully coated with layers of lacquer.
The result is a distinctive texture that invites close appreciation.
An abundance of time and meticulous handwork lies beneath the surface—details not immediately visible at first glance.
Perfectly sized for Japanese and Western sweets, fruit, potato salad, or small appetizers, it offers an elegant and versatile presentation.

Yuma Fukuzaki
2006 – Graduated from Osaka Municipal Crafts High School.
2010 – Graduated from Kanazawa College of Art, Department of Crafts (specializing in lacquer and woodworking).
Apprenticed under renowned lacquer artist Akito Akagi.
2020 – Became independent in Wajima, Ishikawa.
2024 – Relocated to Taka Town, Hyogo, where he established his current studio.
